Curiouser Mitts

As much as I like the look of mitts that have designs that are “left” & “right”, I don’t always like reversing the shaping or offsetting the thumb. For this design I developed a sneaky trick to give the illusion that you knitted two separate, reflected mitts - when in fact you followed the “make two” instructions. In my mind I call them ambihandrous.

While developed with and for Finito - if you want to substitute yarns you are going to have better luck using a Sport weight than an fingering weight. Finito has so much squooshy loft that I worked these mitts at a large gauge to avoid compressing it down in order to allow the softness to shine. Worked at the same gauge, Bugga! is an excellent choice (and you will have enough left over to make the matching shawlette … and Curiouser).

Skills Needed
This pattern is completely written out with a small chart for the cable. Intermediate in complexity, you will be working yarn overs, simple decreases, slipped stitches and simple cables.
